ANCIENT SPIRAL Excalibur sword in the stone King Arthur Holy Grail Lady of the Lake

Full Sized Excalibur Sword, available at the Spiral Online Shop

  • "Excalibur" is the name of the sword possessed by King Arthur in the Arthurian legends.
  • Contrary to popular belief, Excalibur was not the sword that was pulled by King Arthur from the stone to determine his kinghood.  Excalibur was given to Arthur by the Lady of the Lake after the Sword in the Stone was broken by Arthur's pride.
  • Excalibur was a magical sword.  Anyone wielding Excalibur was virtually undefeatable, and anyone wearing the sheath of Excalibur would be protected from harm.
  • According to legend, the magnificent sword was returned to the Lady of the Lake after Arthur's death.
  • In mythology, the sword is always a symbol of male potency, and Excalibur is no exception.
  • Excalibur is also an important symbol of the Holy Grail symbol.  It may be one of the masculine symbols that complement the femininity of the Grail.
